French League Results and Eurocup Victories

The week in France started with European action. Bourges and Villeneuve had no problems in registering victories in the EuroLeague. For the other French Clubs things did not work out. USVO lost surprising to Dexia Namur while Mondeville lost to TEO Vilniusa.

The four French teams in the EuroCup recorded victories: Montpellier had no problems beating Helmsange (Luxembourg) (86-57), Challes-les-Eaux came from behind to beat Rhondda Rebels (75-70). Tarbes trailed for practically the whole game against Madeira and somehow managed to steal the match at the buzzer (80-78). And Aix who are having a horrid time in the league managed to hold on to beat 08 Stockholm (58-53).

No changes at the top of the league after the weekend action with Bourges and USVO winning.

Calais beating Tarbes (87-80) was the surprise result of the weekend. This was the first win for Calais in a league fixture this year . 

Challes-les-Eaux tough week ended with a hard fought win (72-64) to move into third place. Arras had it difficult but thanks to the duo Sheana Mosch and Carla Tomas (Combined for 55 points) held off Clermont-Ferrand (85-80). A 19-0 start by Villeneuve was enough to kill off the hopes of Aix-en-Provence (70-54), while Reims crushed Mourenx (95-55).

Mondeville playing at home never got into the game against Bourges, trailing 33-19 at the interval went on to lose (70-58). The game between Montpellier and USVO turned into a classic and it was not until the final quarter that USVO took control to win (63-56).

On Tuesday evening Reims played Arras, a match originally scheduled for the 3rd of January. Reims won the match (69-64). With this victory Reims have moved to the top of the table.
