Euroleague turned into a nightmare for all French club sides as they all lost. Bourges and USVO are finding things tough domestically despite leading the league which at the moment is making it hard for them in Europe.USVO lost at home to Gambrinus (74-55) after a final period collapse orchestrated by Tamika Whitemore. She scored 12-of-20 points in the last 8 minutes including back to back 3 pointers to condemn USVO to a second consecutive defeat. Sandra Le Dréan rolled back the clock as she led ZVVZ Prague (USK) with 16-points as her side came out on top to beat Bourges (60-51).
In the Eurocup Montpellier and Challes suffered defeats at home to Italian opposition but French clubs honour was saved by Aix-en-Provence and Tarbes as they both won.
No surprise this weekend in the League, Aix crushed Reims (76-45) to register victory number one for the season. USVO hung on to beat Tarbes (70-64) and Bourges struggled to overturn St Amand (72-64). Mondeville went to Calais and took away all the points (76-61) while Clermont-Ferrand beat Montpellier (89-75). Villeneuve travelled to Mourenx and had the game wrapped up by half-time and then paced themselves to victory (56-45).
The match of the round or at least the first 25 minutes was between Challes-les-Eaux and Arras. Sheena Mosch scored 29 points for Arras but still ended up on the losing side. Martina Luptakova who was celebrating her birthday finished with a double-double 26 points and 10 rebounds as her side overturned Arras in the last 15 minutes to win (87-67). Luptakova also had time to dish out six assists and collect 5 steals.
Pascal Pisan is the first coach to lose his job this season, Tarbes decided to let him go with immediate effect and have already appointed Patrick Maucouvert in his place. Juricama Dantas is back in France after two season in Italy, she has signed with Villeneuve until the end of the season, she replaces Iveta Marcauskaïte who is on maternity leave.
