MONDEVILLE 76 - CLERMONT-FERRANT 72

Union Sportive Ouvrière Mondeville Basket and Stade Clermontois Auvergne Basket faced each other in the second contest of the Open LFB.

The first half was entirely of Trading. Being Mondeville who put ahead and lead until the halftime. Paoline Saragnac lead Mondeville in the first stages with 8 pts, while the Aussie Emma Randall did the same thing for Clermont –Ferrand.

The first period finished 27-20 for USO Mondeville.

Mondeville didn’t feel its lead was in danger and kept in front until the halftime since Clermont-Ferrand didn’t improve its defence and that favoured Modeville’s game. Again, Emma Randall was Clermont best with 8 pts and both teams reached the intervalo 43-35 for Mondeville.

Clermont Ferrand Comeback after the break by making an 8-0 run in the first 3:45 of the third to level the scores. But from then on the quarter was about Trading again and Mondeville regained the lead to enter the fourth 58-55 in front.

Clermont Ferrand didn’t surrender and stroke back in the fourth thanks to its defensive improvement iniciated in the third. After 1:45 Randall levelled again the score and finally Claire Tomaszewski put Clermont ahead for the first time since the first quarter, 63-62. The guard gave Clermont its biggest lead of the game, 68-64, with 4 minutes remaining with another perimeter shot.


Mondeville regained the lead by scoring five straight points, a threepointer from Pauline Jannault and a jumper from Clarisse Costaz, but Clermont kept fighting and Anäel Lardy stole a ball and converted the fastbreak to put Clermont back in front, 70-69, with 3:37 remaining.


From that moment both teams traded baskets.


Pauline Janault picked up a flagrant foul for Mondeville and Clermont-Ferrand pull its lead to 73-69 with 2:10 remaining. None of the teams scored for a minute then until Pauline Jannault put Mondeville into one point with a trey, 73-72, and 50 seconds remaining. Clermont didn’t execute its offense but Kelly Corre picked up an offensive foul and Randall iced the game for Clermont in the ensuing possession, making it 75-72 with 26 seconds remaining, closing Claudia Das NEves the score of the game making it 76-72 for Mondeville.
