First game of the second day of the LFB Open matched Arras Pays d’Artois Basket Féminin and Challes les Eaux Basket

Teams struggled early in the game. Arras looked for transition baskets while Challes leaned on Martina Luptakova, (6 ptd). Challes put ahead 4-0 in the early stages but Arras little by little went into the game while Challes struggled to execute its offense and Bruno Blier’s team finally put in front by scoring a 10-2 run in a four minutes span to make it 10-6 with 3:18 remaining. Challes reacted and Kirby Copeland tied scores, 13-13, with a three pointer and just one minute remaining. Mia Fisher (7 pts) scores a three point play in the late seconds which put Arras   17-13 entering the second.

The second quarter was played uptempo and Challes took advantage of that regaining the lead, 22-21, after four minutes, and kept in front until the halftime. Lead by Martina Luptakova, who scored 8 pts, Challes summed points on the Trading and reached the interval 32-28 up after a free throw from Marielle Amant.

Arras aim out Sorong after the break and regained the lead in barely a minute, 33-32. However, one minute later, Challes recovered the advantage and began a basket trading which lead to another change of leads, after Stéphanie Beuzelin hit a three pointer to make it 42-40 teams traded baskets again until the end of the third, with Challes up, 47-44. Martina  Luptakova scored 7 pts in the quarter.

Stéphanie Beuzelin evened the game again, and again with a three pointer in the first play of the fourth, 47-47, and the trade began again. Challes kept their noses in front thanks partly to the lack of scoring in Arras, who was pushing Corinne Benintendi’s team, which didn’t quit, although they weren’t especially good in scoring.

Challes became nervous in the last minutes of the fourth and Arras put in front after a three pointer from Jenna O’Hea, 63-61. The next minute and a half none of the teams scored. Silvia Janostinova did a move in the lane with 40 seconds remaining to tie the score a 63. Arras missed all its options to win the game since they didn’t execute any ot the two possessions they got and the game marched to overtime.

At the overtime Challes defense paid off and left scoreless Arras, scoring themselves 9 points. Silvia Janostinova started the sport wint a three point play and Emile Duvivier cappet it to make it 72-63 for Challes.
In Challes les Eaux Martina Luptakova had 25 pts and 8 boards, with 17 pts and 7 rebounds from Silvia Janostinova and Kirby Copeland’s 13 pts, while in Arras Jenna O’Hea had 20 pts, Mia Fisher 13, Natalie Doma 11 pts and Marielle Amant 11 pts and 10 boards.
