image The Wisla Can-Pack bagged their 21st Polish title in club history after hammering out a thrilling 52-50 victory over the CCC Polkowice to win the finals showdown, 3-1, in game four of their best-of-five series.

Yelena Leuchanka did all the heavy damage as she finished with 15 points, which were enough for her to be named as the Most Valuable Player, while Erin Phillips finished with nine points, all coming from her three three-point daggers in the game.

“I feel great joy,” said Leuchanka, who also led the Polish team to the quarterfinals of the recently concluded EuroLeague Women tournament. “For me personally, this title is very important, since coming to Poland, we had one goal - to win the championship. It succeeded, so I am filled with joy.”

Wisla Can-Pack controlled the game in the first half that ended with them comfortably on top by seven points, 34-27, but CCC Polkowice refused to give until the final second of the game. Down by two points, 52-50, in the most crucial part of the game, CCC Polkowice had a chance to force an extra period, but Amisha Carter missed the potential game-tying basket to the delight of the Wisla can-Pack squad.

“I congratulate Polkowice, they deserve to win the championship, but I'm proud of my girls because they have shown great character,” said Wisla Can-Pack coach Chris Koziorowicz.

Sharnee Zoll had 21 points, while Carter added 17 markers, but their productions weren’t enough to stop the newly-crowned champions.

Wisla bagged their fourth title under the sponsorship on Can-Pack, who has yet to finalize an agreement with the team for the next few seasons.
