Today is a sad day for the Lithuania Basketball Community and as well as the Spanish basketball community where Tuomaite lost her battle to cancer. Vitalija Tuomaite was diagnosed with cancer 3 years ago and was given 6 months to live. She surpassed this by living three more years. Her fight to live was great. Tuomaite played in the Olympics and ended her career after playing years in Spain.
She had a lot of support from the Spanish Basketball Community which helped raise and provide Tuomaite with doctors and hospitals in Spain for further research and medical care. She was beloved in the Spanish Basketball World and will be missed by many.
