PERFUMERÍAS AVENIDA 74 – C.B. OLESA ESPANYOL 54
It took almost all the first quarter to Perfumerías Avenida to put in front of the scoreboard, but once they did it was for good. After suffering an initial 6-0 run the Salamanca outfit took control of the game by the end of the quarter, 19-16, led by Anna Montañana (5 pts) and Clara Bermejo (6 pt), and never look back again
José Ignacio Hernández’s team took adventage of the scoring problems of the catalan team to make a 7-0 run which put them 29-20 in front, trading baskets after that spurt until the last seconds of the half, when Isa Sánchez, the local hero, scored five straight points , with a threepointer which almost beat the buzzer, to reach the interval 40-27 in front
Olga Podkovalnikova led Olesa’s team in the offense with 13 pts in the half, and intimidated in the paint, since Perfumerías shut off Le Coe Willingham, who only scored 6 pointsd in the first twenty minutes
It was a huge team effort which make the difference for Avenida after the break. After a slow start of the quarter where both teams combined scored a 2-2 run in the first 3:30, Avenida overcame their drought and, taking advantage of the lasting drought on the Catalonian outfit that took the last four minutes of the quarter, piled their advantage up to a 59-38 scoreline at the end of the third
Lucas Mondelo’s girls refused to give in and make sweat Avenida although Olesa wasn’t a menace to the salmantinas who had again in Anna Montañana a leader in the last quarter, scoring 8 points and keeping her team’s cool. Helena Boada (5 pt) and Le Coe Willingham (7 pts) awake in the last minutes to score again for Olesa, making it the final 74-54
Anna Montañana had 13 points and 7 rebounds, joined by Tracy Reid with 11 pts, and Isa Sánchez with 12 for Perfumerías Avenida, while in Olesa Le Coe Willingham had a double double with 18 points and 10 boards and Olga Podkovalnikova 17 points
From the perimeter Olesa Espanyol only made 1 0f 7 threepointers while Perfumerías had a 44% making 7-of-16, with a 45% in two point shots (20-of-44) for a 55% from the catalan outfit which made 21-of-38. Avenida won the battle of the boards, 41-to-27
