Don Piso Girona Will Play The Semi Final Against Joventut Mariana Sóller

Vinarós used its perimeter shooting  to take an early advantage with back to back treys (Radostina Dimitrova and Lidia Mirchandani) to make it 12-6. Girona cameback and scored a 12-2 run to make it 18-14 after a three pointer from Rosa Pérez who was the best scorer for Don Piso with 9 points in the first quarter. Then both teams traded baskets with Vinarós trimming slowly Pío’s lead until putting themselves finally in front 24-22 after a three pointer from Cris López with 20 seconds remaining.

Vinarós came out strong in the second with a 10-2 run, leaving scoreless Don Piso four minutes and acquiring a 24-34 margin. Berta Siñol broke the Catalán team drought making it 27-34, but Vinarós was still hot from outside and kept a double digit lead til late in the second Girona took advantage of some Vinarós mistakes as well as a tech picked by Vinarós Coach, Ray Santana, and made it 43-48 at the break.

Girona came out strong in the third and put in front after a 9-2 run for a 52-50 lead in the first four minutes of the quarter to never trail again. Castellón outfit reacted and after trading baskets finally a fast break by Cris López would tie the score at 56 with 2:46 remaining. Beginning then to trade mistakes the remaining time. Girona put back in front thanks to Mari Moreno with 50 seconds remaining and breaking Don Piso’s Drought that lasted three minutes and made it 58-56. Carles Coromina’s girls stormed out in the fourth and that damaged Vinarós which won’t recover from an early 8-1 run putting them 66-57 however Ray Santana’s team reacted and made a 5-0 run (4 of them coming from Emily Heikes) to trimmed the deficit to 66-63 after a Paola Prieto’s basket with 4:50 remaining. Both teams struggled then to score in the final minutes, but a Rosa Pérez’s timely basket to give some fresh air to Girona with 3:25 remaining, 69-63, and Berta Siñol finished out the game with another trey to make it 72-63 with 2:50 remaining. Santana put back Mirchandani and Dimitrova in the game but Vinarós wouldn’t score until the last seconds and Don Piso took advantage from the trips to the charity stripe, from where came all the Catalans points in the time remaining, to close the score at 79-65 putting Girona in the game for a spot in Liga Femenina

For Don Piso Uni Girona Geisa Da Silva had 21 pts and 5 rebounds, Berta Siñol had 15 pts, Rosa Pérez 14 and 8 boards and Ana María Moreno 12 pts while in Viaonetti Vinarós Radostina Dimitrova had 13 pts, Cris López 12, Lidia Mirchandani 11 and Emily Heikes 10 and 6 boards.
