Jovent Mariana Gets A Spot In Liga Femenina With Win Over Don Piso

Don Piso the team that barely made it to the semifinals of the LF2 Playoffs started the game strong against top seed Jovent Mariana. Eva Vilarrubla gave ther team Don Piso a presense on offense and defense to edge Jovent Mariana 17-13 during the first period. Favorites Jovent Mariana shot bad from the field but was able to out rebound Don Piso and converted 4/5 free shots in the first period. Astou Traore and Nieves Llamas lead Jovent Mariana with 4 points respectively.

During the Don Piso led by as much as 9points over the top seeded Jovent Mariana. Don Piso continued to shoot good from the field and three pointers. Maria Morena scored 5 points in the quarter with easy pull jump shots.

Laura Villaescusa charged Jovent Mariana during the 3rd period with a couple of easy layups. Jovent Mariana hit some key three point shots during the stretch to close the led by 6 points. Don Piso could not convert on a couple of easy shots and Jovent Mariana took complete advantage.

With 1:00 remaining, Jovent Mariana came down on offense with the intention of making  a clear shot, however, Saray Ruiz could not convert on the shot in the paint. After the attempt, Ruiz committed a foul that put Marta Xargay on the free throw line for two. Xaray converted on both free throws and with 0:43  seconds remaining on the clock Villascuesa shot a bad shot and committed a fou with 28 seconds remaining score 60-58 in favor of Don Piso. Bert Sinol shot 1/2 from the in the free throw, that put Don Piso up by 3 points (61-58). Jovent Mariana came down fast on offense with a penetration by Gabriela Ocete and a pass to Maria Moreno who hit a 3 pointer to tie the game 61-61 with 0:19 remaining on the clock. Don Piso took a time out with 0:19 remaining and came in to drain time from the clock but could not find a good option. Geisa Da Silva attempted a 3 pointer but came up short and Xantal rebounded with an attempt for a shot and foul but it was not called. The game went into overtime 61-61.

In the overtime, Jovent Mariana controlled the tempo of the game. Maria Moreno came up with two big 3 pointers give Jovent Mariana a 5 point lead over Don Piso. Rosa Perez could not convert on a couple of easy layups. Jovent Mariana made free throws down the stretch and never looked back. Jovent Mariana finished the game 76-65. With this win, Jovent Mariana will be the next new team in the Liga Femenina in Spain.
