Ros Casares defensive effort in the second quarter decides Copa de la Reina’s quarter finals clash against FEVE León
León fought Ros Casares during the first ten minutes while exchanging baskets with the defending champions but from minute 3:50, when Erika De Souza put Isma Cantó’s team in front for the first time, 8-7, the Valencian outfit never looked back.
The brazilian international lead her team in the offensive end scoring 10 pts and grabbing 8 boards, to finish the first ten minutes 23-17 but it was in the second quarter when Casares team effort worked out. They scored a 2-0 run, leaving scoreless León during 6 minutes, to make it 32-17 and cruised to victory.
María Revuelto cut the drought from the charity stripe and from then Miguel Ángel Estrada’s team exchanged baskets until the break with Valencia’s team leading 42-26.
After the break León tried faithfully but not convincingly to comeback but they could only trade baskets with a dominating Ros Casares that put all her members going into the game and serving to a common interest: repeat the title.
Amaya Valdemoro appeared in the second half being Ros’ best offensive weapon 12 points.
Erika de Souza had 15 pts and 12 boards for Ros, with Delisha Milton-Jones adding 15 pts and 6 rebounds, Amaya Valdemoro scoring 14 and Elena Tornikidou adding 10, while Elisa Aguilar summed up 8 pts and 9 assists. In FEVE León Luci Pascua had 14 pts and 6 boards and Eshaya Murphy added 22 pts.
