France National Team Cuts

Coach Jacques Commères has started to trim down his National team roster as it comes closer to Eurobasket 2007 in Italy. In his telephone press conference today he announced the 13 player roster for the rest of the preparation.  Elodie Godin, Florence Lepron and Géraldine Robert were announced to be cut from the squad.

Elodie Godin will miss a her first summer championship for France since joining the senior squad in 2003. Isabelle Yacoubou performance during the preparation games at centre combined with the offensive performance of Elodie Bertal and Sabrina Reghaïssia around the boards was enough to knock Elodie down the ranking. This little break should at least give her sometime to rest before joining up with her new club next season.

Géraldine Robert is a playing still learning her trade and unfortunately for her she has not been able to adjust to the systems put in place by the head coach and as a result is out of the running for a place in the final squad. Florence Lepron misses out for the second season.

France will be participating in a 4-nation tournament in Latvia this weekend.
