In complete contrast to the first match, it was Australia that quickly got things going and lead after the first period (22-11). Emilie Gomis appears to like playing against Australia, she started the French comeback in the second period as France went on a 15-0 run to edge in front (26-22). Jan Stirling (Australian head coach) decided to switch to a more aggressive style of defense, which cause France all kinds of problems allowing Australia to regain control and lead by 1 point at the interval.
By the end of a scrappy the 3rd period the two teams were tied (50-50). France left their best to the last period and hit the world champions 12-0 as they went on to win the match by a comfortable margin(78-61).
For France Emilie Gomis hit a game high 17 points, while Sandrine Gruda with 15 points and Sandra La Dréan was the only other in double digits with 12 points. Rohanee Cox was the only player in double digits for Australia with 10 points.
