Latvia Roll Past Lithuania

LATVIA 76 – LITHUANIA 46

It took 2:15 that one of the teams scored. It was Lina Brazdeikyte for Lithuania and then all began rolling. Both teams played good defense so both struggled in their offenses, nevertheless Lithuania suffered a little mor while trying to find theit posts

After Brazdeikyte’s two came 7 in a row from Latvia, but things turned out inmediately and was Lithuania who scored 7 unansweres, all coming from de Iveta Marcauskaite, to put Lithuania in front 9-7

Anete Jekabsone scored bact to back threes to put in front Latvia again. Then both teams entered in a droguht stretch which abridged from minute 6:46 until 23 seconds to the end of quarter, cutting it once again Jecabsone, scoring her 10th point in the quarter that ended 15-9

Second quarter teams traded baskets, Anete Jekabsone led Latvia, keenping Lithuania at bay. The lithuanians kept struggling to score. Agne Ciudarene scored 5 in the first 4:50 from the 7 points of her team

From that point Latvia played mostly from the perimeter, frustraiting Lithuania’s attemts to comeback. After two consecutive turnovers from Lithuania, Latvia reached dougle digit margin for the first time, 23-33, after two killer fastbreaks, going to the locker room 23-35 in front

Iveta Maciauskaite and Agne Ciudarene scored 6 apiece for Lithuania, while Anete Jekabsone, scored the same amount for Latvia

After the break the intensity level grew up, but it was Latvia who played better, they drought the Lithuanian offense and they run their offense properly so they grew their lead. Liene Jansone (8pts in the quarter) pur Latvia 20 up after a there pointer, 33-53, finishing the third 34-57, being Lithuania unable to find a way to close the gap  

In the last act Latvia went out as if they had turn out the score. Agne Ciudarene was Lithuania’s best as their team struggled seeing that no matter what they tried, Latvia had an answer.

Agne Ciudarene (14) and Iveta Maciauskaite (18) were the only Lithuanian players to end up in double figures

For Latvia anete Jekabsone scored 20 and dished 5 asissts, Liene Jansone scored 10 and grabbed 7 rebounds, Ieva Tare scord 10, Ieva Kublina had 16 and 6 rebounds, and Zane Tamane had 8 pts and 9 rebounds
