African Champions Senegal announced their 15-player preliminary squad that will be training to bolster their campaign in the 2010 FIBA World Basketball Championship for Women that will be held in Czech Republic starting on the 23rd of September.Senegal National Head Coach Moustapha Gaye included the high-scoring Aya Traore in the list and she’s expected to make a big splash for the team in the World Championship.
Traore had an outstanding game for Senegal in the 2009 Afrobasket Women when he tallied 26 points in their Semifinals victory against Ivory Coast. She then followed it up with another impressive performance in the finals against Mali when she scored 19 points to help them sweep all their assignments in the World Championship Qualifiers.
Senegal, which will be on their sixth World Championship stint, was drawn to the group that includes USA, France, and Greece. The African Champs also qualified in the 2006 World Basketball Championship but only won a single game.
