France 89 – Serbia 57
France decided to do it the fastest as they can. From a strong defensive effort and an uptempo and balanced play, Gregory Halin’s girls hit with a 6-2 run and from thar point they just increased their lead during the rest of the way and Serbia was never able to get back in the game.
France didn’t slow down in the second, after Mytiam Ygoufe scored the last points of the first to make it 30-17, and kept overwhelming Serbia from the beginning with a 7-1 run to make it 37-18 after 1:24 and Halin began his rotations since France had complete control of the game.
After a Halin’s timeout to correct some mistakes in France’s game her girls made a 9-0 run that put them, 48-25 up with 4 minutes remaining for the interval, leaving Serbia scoreless for 2:30 minutes. Then France went scoreless for two minutes but Serbia had no strength to try a comeback and France reached the interval 31-53 on top.
In the second half France was more focused in polishing its offensive game for the next matches than in increasing its lead, which they didn’t have problems to keep thanks to her aggressive defence that allowed some basket trading with the serbs but not any serious run. France offense got better late in the late fourth and Laurie Datchy closed the score with back to back baskets – a three pointer and a laying- making it 89-57 for France.
Allison Vernerey lead France with 19 pts and 12 boards. Diandra Tchatchouang added 17 and Paulina Thizy and Laurie Datchy 12 apiece.
For Serbia Tina Jovanovic scored 11 and Nevena Jovanovic 10.
