Spain 81 - Sweden 69 Spain came in with a vengeance, with a 14-0 run and never looked back . Cristina Ouviña scored 11 points in the spurt. Carlos Colinas switched defenses during the game, as he did against Russia, so Sweden couldn’t get going their offense. Spain’s defense provided fast-break baskets in the beginning of the first five minutes of the first –and also during the game. After five minutes in the game, finally Frida Fogdemark scored for Sweden to make it 14-3 and then begin the trading that lasted until the end of the first which ended 22 a 14 with Spain ahead.
Vega Gimeno scored six unanswered points early in the second made it 28-16 for Spain. Sweden scored then a 7-0 run and closed the gap to three points 37-34 with 1:30 for the break. Cleopatra Forsman Goga with four points sparked the run and Stephanie Yderström capped it with a three pointer. Alba García and Cristina Ouviñas‘s hot hands García had 4-for-6 from the perimeter and scored 14 pts and Ouviña – was one of the leading scorers of the team with 18 pts, killing Sweden with her fast-breaks and layups and from the perimeter scoring 3-of-5- showed right on time to nail one three pointer each and making it 43-37 for Spain that reached the interval leading 43-37.
Back from the locker Spain came out strong again scoring a 7-2 (50-39) run that eventually iced the game for them. Jan Enjebo called time out. His team stopped Spain in the next four minutes, leaving them scoreless, but they didn’t take advantage and could only score 5 points to make it 52-44 (4 pts came from Cleopatra Forsman Goga) Both teams traded baskets again and Spain could pull its lead and reached the end of the third with a double digit margin, 58-47.
In the fourth the Spanish game improved in both ends and the Swedes could only trade baskets during the quarter. Cleopatra Forsman Goga scored 6 points –she lead her team with 23 pts and 11 boards) and Frida Fogdemark (9 pts) scored 15 from Sweden’s 22 points but their team couldn’t take advantage of that, a thing that Spain did with Vega Gimeno and Cristiana Ouviña’s good quarter (6 pts). Vega Gimeno had 6 pts –she scored 18 points overall- and Cristina Ouviña scored 8 and Spain lead as much as 15 pts and reached finished the game with 6 straight points from the charity stripe from Cristina Pedrals to close the game 81-69.
