Spain 113 - Fiij 42Spain Womens National Team overpowered and out-played the smaller Fiiji Womens Basketball National Team during the first game of the Pre-Olympic Qualifying Tournament in Madrid. Top starters set the tone for Spain, Aguilar, Valdemoro, Palau, Montañana and Pascua. Fiij started the game sloppy with numerous turnovers and Spain capitalized on those errors by getting easy fast break points.
During the second quarter, Evaristo Perez allowed the new youth players usch as Tamara Abalde, Laura Nicholls and Alba Toreens get into their first game on the Senior National Team for the Pre-Olympic Tournament. Alba Torrens lead the rookies and team with scoring in the first half playing the small forward position. By half-time, Spain practicely destroyed Fiji and their chances with a margin of 48 points (60-12) lead goiing into the 3rd quarter.
In the second half, Spain star player Amaya Valdemoro took charge to push the lead over Fiji to the limits as she score 24 points a game high and Nainima lead Fiji with 23. Spain will face Brazil in their next game in the Group A on June 11th in Madrid.
