image The Baylor University Lady Bears continues to reign in NCAA Women’s Basketball scene after being unanimously chosen as the top team in The Associated Press Women’s Basketball rankings.

The Lady Bears received all the 39 possible first-place votes after having a strong showing last week, defeating Missouri and Iowa State to finish on top of the women’s basketball poll for the sixth-straight week.

While the Lady Bears are still sitting pretty on top the rankings, former No. 2 team, the University of Connecticut Huskies fell to the third spot after being overtaken by the Notre Dame Irish, the team that defeated them in their thrilling encounter last week.

Stanford and Maryland wound up the top five followed by Tennessee, Duke, Rutgers, Kentucky, and Texas Tech, respectively.

Meanwhile, South Carolina entered the top 25 for the first time in nine years, finishing 24th after defeating then 24th ranked Vanderbilt and Florida last week, a week after they also earned a convincing win over North Carolina.

Gonzaga (25) also entered the top 25 for the first time this year, while Penn State and Texas dropped out of the rankings.
