As expected, the undefeated Baylor Lady Bears remains on top and further solidified their grip on the no.1 spot in The Associated Press Women’s College Basketball Rankings for the 12th straight week. The Lady Bears, who started their reign since the Pre-Season Rankings, had a tough two-game assignment last week, facing ranked teams.
However, Brittney Griner and the rest of the Lady Beards were hardly challenged as they scored a convincing 72-64 win over Texas Tech followed by a 76-41 demolition of the Kansas State to remain perfect in 19 games this season, which led to them getting all the 40 first-place votes in the poll.
On the other hand, Notre Dame, who crushed Pittsburgh and Villanova last week, finished second for the third-straight week, followed by Connecticut, Stanford, and Duke, respectively.
Kentucky, Tennessee, Maryland, Ohio State, and Miami (FL) complete the top ten teams in the rankings.
Meanwhile, BYU, who were ranked 23rd this week, entered rankings for the first time since November 27, 2006, while Gonzaga re-entered the rankings at 22, booting out Kansas State and Vanderbilt.
