WNBA Draft 2008 Picks and Schedule

2008 WNBA Pre-Draft Camp – Session One

The WNBA Pre-Draft Camp will offer WNBA coaches and general managers an opportunity to evaluate the skills of approximately 40 top global prospects. Players will participate in on-court sessions and compete against one another in hopes of improving their draft status.
Location: Bob Martinez Center, University of Tampa
11:30 a.m. – 12 p.m.     

2008 WNBA Pre-Draft Camp Media Availability
Players and team representatives will be available for interviews. This event is open to credentialed media.

11 a.m.     WNBA and Pitney Bowes Reading Rally
The WNBA in partnership with Pitney Bowes, will give back to the community by hosting a special reading event at John F. Germany Public Library. Current WNBA stars, including Tamika Catchings of the Indiana Fever, Ivory Latta of the Atlanta Dream and Sidney Spencer of the Los Angeles Sparks, will spend time reading with young students from the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa and teach them the importance of education. They will also help distribute books that Pitney Bowes and Reading Is Fundamental are donating to the library.

WBCA 4Kay Events-in-a-Box Campaign
WNBA President Donna Orender will present the annual WNBA Inspiring Coach Award to this year’s recipient.

WNBA Inspiring Women Luncheon presented by Outback Steakhouse
The WNBA will host the Women’s Executive Leadership, Inc. and gather more than 100 prominent Florida business executives to discuss the importance of sports in developing leadership ability in girls and women. WNBA President Donna Orender, Dr. Sheila Johnson, Owner of the Washington Mystics and Penny Hulbert, Director of Women Executive Leadership, Inc., are scheduled to address the audience.

NCAA Women’s Final Four Championship Game
Location: St. Pete Times Forum

2008 WNBA Draft
Top prospects from across the nation will be in attendance at the Draft. The WNBA will also be inviting youth league and high school basketball players from the Tampa area to the event as guests. This event is open to credentialed media.
