Last year's WNBA champions Detroit still has not found rhythm before or after the departure of Coach Bill Laimbeer. On the East side,Indiana is on a 7 game winning streak and the team is playing excellent with Tamika Catchings leading the way. Atlanta has surpassed their total franchise wins this season than the total last summer. Washington, Connecticut and Atlanta are still in tight competition for playoff positions before the 2009 WNBA All-Star break.
In the West, Phoenix is playing well but they have some tough followers in Minnesota and Seattle fighting for the top spot in the standings. Minnesota has not slowed down play after top scorer and player Seimone Augustus tore her ACL two weeks ago. Candace Wiggins has stepped up her game and insures that Minnesota will stay in great position for the playoffs. Wiggins is also in the running for MVP as well. Sacramento and Los Angeles are suffering from the custom of winning every season by holding positions at the bottom of the table.
