image Tulsa Shock absorbed their 12th straight setback when they were subdued by the Los Angeles Sparks, 87-71, Wednesday in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Tina Thompson led the Sparks in scoring with her 24 points and had six rebounds, while Delisha Milton - Jones contributed 17 points for Los Angeles, helping their team bag it's 5th win of the season (5-13)

"I think it was our defense that made a difference. They are a good team, they play hard, they're very athletic, so I don't think we expected them to lay down." Thompson said.

Andrea Riley of Los Angeles, who is a product of Oklahoma State, played in front of her hometown crowd and scored 14 points. Riley, who was cheered by her friends and former coach, converted three 3-pointers in the first half.

"I actually did hear that. I couldn't really believe it, but I really do appreciate it, because it means I'm really appreciated and respected down here and that is something that a lot of people don't have." Riley said when asked about the support she received.

Kiesha Brown scored 14 points to lead Tulsa in scoring while Ivory Latta and Kara Braxton added ten points each for the Shock.

"I though the first 20 minutes went pretty well," Tulsa coach Nolan Richardson said.

"I thought we played the kind of basketball, we're capable playing to be able to win. However, it's always the third quarter that we come out. ... It's very difficult to understand why we come out flat. They got on a run and got their heads up. The next thing you know, it's all going downhill for us."
