Tanisha Wright converted a game-winning 3-pointer with 52.6 seconds left to help the Seattle Storm defeat the Minnesota Lynx, 73-71, for their ninth-straight victory, Sunday in Minneapolis.The five-year WNBA veteran, Wright, scored eight points and grabbed ten rebounds, but her three-pointer down the stretch was her shining moment.
Lauren Jackson also played big for the Storm tallying 26 points, 14 of it coming in the fourth quarter which helped her team erase Minnesota's seven-point lead. The two-time MVP also grabbed seven rebounds and was perfect from the foul-line, 9-of-9.
"We can't be satisfied with the way we played tonight," Jackson said. "We need to get better. We didn't panic, and that's a great thing."
Swin Cash added 12 points and 11 rebounds while Sue Bird chipped in ten points and dished out 12 assists for the Storm, which had season-high 23 turnovers in the game.
"We've got a resilient team, and they just find ways to do it. They don't get bothered by the score." Storm coach Brian Agler said.
Rebekkah Brunson scored 19 points for Lindsay Whalen and Seimone Augustus tallied 13 points apiece for the Lynx. Augustus had a chance to tie the game but she missed a hook shot in their team's final possesion.
Meanwhile, the Connecticut Sun continues to dominate at home when they clobbered the Eastern Conference leader Atlanta Dream, 96-80.
Rookie Tina Charles had another veteran-like performance scoring 22 points to go with her 14 rebounds, which helped Connecticut (12-8) win their 8th game at home against a loss.
The victory was Connecticut's first win against the Atlanta Dream this season.
In Phoenix, Penny Taylor erupted for 29 points and added seven assists and seven rebounds to help the Mercury subdue the struggling Tulsa Shock, 97-88, for their third win in their last four games.
Candice Dupree added 26 points and six rebounds for the Mercury which improved their record to 8-12 and continues to hold the second spot in the Western Conference.
