After losing two-straight games that broke their 13-game winning run, the Seattle Storm proved that they are still a force to reckon with. The league-leading Storm dominated the league's cellar dweller Tulsa Shock, 111-65, to set the largest winning margin in WNBA history, 46, Sunday at the Key Arena in Seattle.
Svetlana Abrosimova tallied a team-high 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds, while Swin Cash 18 points and seven rebounds, helping the Storm avenge their shocking lost against the same team, which broke their winning run.
"We did what we were supposed to do after a team beats you on their home floor, we came back. I told the team at the beginning of the game to put our foot on the gas and don't take it off for 40 minutes." Swin Cash said.
League's Top WNBA MVP contender Lauren Jackson added 12 points and ten rebounds even she was not used from 5:13 mark because of the huge cushion they built.
"Everyone played well, all the girls got to really play and it was fun to watch," Jackson said.
Ivory Latta finished the game with 14 points but it was not enough to lift the Shock, which dropped their ninth of their last ten games and their 24th overall this season (5-24).
"We played the best team and they just spanked us," Shock coach Nolan Richardson said. "It was the worst spanking we've had to tell you the truth."
"There's not much you can say when you get beat by nearly 50. They came out with a ton of energy to begin with and they had a great crowd. We just got ourselves in a hole and it just kept getting worse and worse." Tulsa Shock's Nicole Ohlde said.
The Storm, which are now 15-0 at home, broke the 45-point winning margin of the Houston Comets in 1998 against Washington.
