VILLENEUVE D’ASQ 64 – PAYS D’AIX 52
The third game of the Open LFB matched Entente Sportive Basket Villeneuve D’Ascq Lille Métropole and Pays D’Aix Basket.
Any of the teams could get their offense going and finished the first period 13-8 for Villeneuve, although they started the game with a 6-0 run. Fatimatou Sacko scored 8 of Villeneuve’s 13 points and Holly Grima y Magali Lacroix divided Aix en Provence points between themselves.
Aix en Provence woke up in the second and improved offensive and defensively. The quarter was about trading but Aix reduced Villeneuve’s lead point by point to level the game after three minutes, 15-15, and then put ahead after a basket from Renae Camino, 24-23, to reach the intervalo 28-27 ahead.
After the interval Villeneuve came back in the game. The third was mostly about Trading but the defensive recovery from Villeneuve was evidente and Aix began to struggle to get its offense going. Florende Lepron took risponsibility in Villeneuve and lead her team to regain the lead with a little more that four minutes remaining, 36-34 and they would never look back. The closest Aix got was into one point, 39-38, entering the fourth training 45-40.
And if Florence Lepron had lead Villeneuve in the third, the fourth saw emerge Ljubica Drljaca and Geraldine Robert to break the game and held off Aix. They scored 7 and 6 points respectively (13 of their team’s 18). Aix got freezed in the offensive end and couldn’t stop Drljaca nor Robert deffensively, reaching a maximum advantage of 16 points, 60-44, with 3:20 remaining. The rest of the game the teams traded baskets and Villeneuve finally won, 64-52.
For Villeneuve, Geraldine Robert had 14 points and 12 boards, joined by Ljubica Drljaca’s 13 and, los 12 points and 7 boards from Fatimatou Sacko, 11 pts and 5 assists from Geraldine Robert and 12 borads and 5 pts from Martina Rejchova.
Aix en Provence had 13 pts and 7 rebounds from Holly Grima , Yacine Sene added 11 and Renae Camino 10.
