Union Hainaut Win Over Calais By Six To Close Out The OPENLFB 2008


The last game of the Open LFB was between Union Hainaut Basket and Cote d’Opale Basket Calais

Low shooting percentage was the star in the first (Mostly for Union Hainaut which made a 17%) None of the teams found her place on the court and both struggle shooting the ball, as it’s reflected in the finel score of the first: A tie at 11 pts.

In the second teams awoke slowly. Union Hainaut, summed up more than four minutes scoreless, and continued struggling with their game while Calais comfortably kept a double digit margin. However Hainaut cameback lead by Sabrina Reghaïssia (who scored 8 pts in the third) Kathy Wambe closed the gap 34-43 with a three pointer with 4:38 remaining in the third but Calais regained double digit margin with three minutes remaining, after a Lauren Neves basket, and then all become trading. Anyway Union Hainaut closed the gap slowly and reached the final 49-43 up for Calais after two freebies scored by Bintou Dieme.

Union Hainaut came out strong in the fourth. After Trading baskets with Calais and getting into one point two times, Sabrina Reghaïssia put Hainaut back in front for the first time since the first quarter with a three pointer that made it 53-52 with 3:53 remaining and lead to Cyril Sicsic’s timeout. Lina Brazdeykite regained the lead for Calais, 54-53, and then the trade began again. With three points down for Union Hainaut Bintou Dieme emerged and scored back to back three pointers that put Union Hainaut in front for good, 63-57, with 2:17 remaining, time in which none of the teams scored, reaching the final buzzer with that result in the scoreboard, 63-57.

For Union Hainaut Sabrina Palie scored 12 pts and Sabrina Reghaïssia added 23, while in Calais Lauren Neaves had 15 points and grabbed12 boards, Anne Sophie Pagnier had 14 and Lina Brazdeykite 12.
