FIBA Unveils EuroBasket Women 2013 Logo

After a competitive EuroBasket Women tournament this year, the baton has now been passed by Poland to France, who will be hosting the 2013 edition of the European Champions, which logo has been released prior to the finals match between Russia and Turkey on Sunday.

FIBA Europe President Olafur Rafnsson was elated with the competitiveness of this year’s tournament and according to him as one door closes, another one opens and he’s hoping that they will another huge improvement two years from now.

FIBA Europe Secretary General Nar Zanolin is also hoping that France will organize another exciting championship just like how Poland managed to do the job. Zanolin is also hoping that the tournament will be even bigger and will witness the rise of new powerhouses again just like this year.

“We have gone through a number of EuroBasket Women tournaments in the past and the level of competition this year has been absolutely exceptional,” Zanolin said. “We have had a lot of new players and new teams which have come to the fore. The final is a classic example with the participation of Turkey who is now becoming a force in Women's basketball.”

French Basketball Federation President Jean-Pierre Siutat promised to have a much-better hosting of the event and vowed to avoid a large number of empty seats every game just like some unfortunate events that happened for the past two weeks in Poland.

“We decided not to select big cities with big arenas because we understand we need to have the best possible venues with nice dimensions that suit Women's basketball,” Siutat said. “I am very glad to present how we want to organize EuroBasket Women 2013 in France. We decided to organize the event because it has been such a long time since we hosted an international event like this.”
