Russia's Hardwork For a Win Over Italy

First game jitters? Perhaps, but Russia was made to work hard for the victory 60-55 over Italy. Despite Russia dominating the game in every sector of the match Italy tied the match 44-44 early in the 4th period. Russia then went on an offensive spirt with some very clever play and hit Italy 11-0 and gave them momentum to shut out Italy. Russia had big problems with turnovers by committing a high 23, including nine steel for Italian Francesca Zara.

After Russia's late charge in the fourth period it was like this Russia went on the charge then players would get in foul problems and Italy would hit back. Italy did not perform well within the arc was poor 13-of-53.

Summary: Russia did not get going until late in the fourth but when they did for 4 minutes the difference was clear for the victory over Italy in the first game.
