Czech Republic Close Out Eurobasket Strong Over Lithuania

Czech Republic 91 – Lithuania 54

Right from the start Hana Machova set her mark on the game with three treys, a fast-break lay-up and an assist in the opening phase of the game with the Czech Republic racing out to an early lead (17-6). Milda Sujanova put an end to the 11:0 run with a jump-shot in the paint. Lithuania went through a nice phase but were not able to claw back much and trailed (28-12) at the end of the first quarter after Machova passed out to Eva Viteckova who hit a 3-pointer.

There was no break for Lithuania in the second period as they managed to score only 6 points while completely being dominated in all sectors of the game. A 9:0 run at the end of the period allowed the Czech Republic to pass the 30-point-advantage mark (49-18).

Jan Bobrovsky was not happy that Lithuania was beginning to find a rhythm after his side conceded 8 straight points and called a time-out (57-32). With order restored Lithuania finished the period with a second 30-point lead (66-36).
The final period was just a formality and both coaches offered us the possibility of viewing their bench players. Katerina Elhotova used this opportunity as she scored 10 points in less than 3 minutes. With this victory (91-54) the Czech Republic have taken the last European ticket for the Olympic pre-qualifying tournament.
