Diana Taurasi Leaves Fenerbahce, Transfers to Galatasaray MP

After getting cleared from doping allegations, WNBA superstar and former Most Valuable Player Diana Taurasi will return to play in Turkey next season, but the USA national team standout will be wearing a different uniform.

Taurasi, who played for Fenerbahce last season before her contract was terminated after the controversial doping issue, reportedly signed with Fenerbahce’s bitter rival, Galatasaray Medical Park, who announced the deal on their official website.

The 29-year-old guard, who led Russian powerhouse Sparta&K to four-straight EuroLeague titles from 2006 to 2009, led the league in scoring last season before her controversial doping issue.

Taurasi was tested positive for a banned substance called modafinil, which she vehemently denied. But after months of investigations, the Turkish lab retracted their findings and the Turkish Basketball lifted the ban, enabling Taurasi to play in Turkey again.

The two-time EuroLeague MVP will join a squad who is already boosted with the signing of Spanish basketball star Alba Torrens.

The Spanish National team standout, who played for Halcon Avenida last EuroLeague season, inked a two-year deal with Galatasaray last month, making the Turkish club one of the teams to watch next season.
